JEE Main 2019: Application Form, Eligibility, Exam Pattern and Exam dates


National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the online application form for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2019, for the first attempt. Unlike previous years, students can now appear in this examination twice and their best performance out of two will be incorporated while preparing final merit list. Separate application form for the second attempt will be released in February 2019. In this post, Eligibility criteria and exam pattern of JEE Main 2019 will be discussed.

JEE Main 2019 Application Form for the First Attempt

1)   JEE Main 2019 Application form can be submitted only through Online Mode.
2)   Candidates can apply for JEE Main 2019 for the first attempt from 1 September to 30 September 2018. Fee for the exam must be submitted before 1 October through Credit/Debit Card/Net Banking or through e-challan.

3)   Fee for male candidates of General/OBC (Non-Creamy layer) and SC/ST/PwD/Transgender, appearing in either Paper 1 or Paper 2 is ₹500 and ₹250 respectively. Fee for the former appearing in both Papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2) is ₹900 while for the latter ₹450. Female candidates need to submit ₹250 for Paper 1 and ₹450 for appearing in both Papers. This is for those whose exam centres are located in India.
4)   Male candidates of General/OBC (Non-Creamy layer) and SC/ST/PwD/Transgender who opt for exam centres outside India need to pay ₹2000 and ₹1000 respectively for appearing in Paper 1. For appearing in both papers former need to submit ₹3000 while latter ₹1500. Female candidates need to pay ₹1000 for appearing in Paper 1 and ₹1500 for both papers.

JEE Main 2019 Application Form for the Second Attempt

1)   Like first attempt, application form for the second attempt can also be submitted through online mode only.
2)   Online Application Form for the second attempt in JEE Main 2019 will be available from 8 February to 7 March 2019. Exam fee can be submitted till 8 March.
3)   Mode of exam fee submission and fee details will remain same as mentioned earlier.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2019

1)   Candidates who have passed their class 12 examination in 2017 & 2018 or will be appearing in this exam in 2019 can apply for this exam. Others cannot apply for this exam.
2)   There is no age limit for appearing in this exam.
3)   Candidates must have studied at least 5 subjects in Class 12.

JEE Main 2019 Exam Pattern

1)   JEE Main 2019 will be conducted twice. Best of the two NTA scores will be considered while preparing merit list.
2)   JEE Main 2019 consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2.
3)   Paper 1 (B.E./B. Tech.) will be conducted in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode only.
4)   Paper 2 (B. Arch/ B.Planning) has three parts. Mathematics (Part 1) and Aptitude Test (Part 2) will be conducted in CBT mode only. Drawing Test (Part 3) will be conducted offline on drawing sheet.
5)   Question Paper will be in Hindi, English and Gujarati.
6)   Based on choices and All India Rank (AIR), seats will be allocated.
7)   NTA has setup a wide network of Test Practice Centres (TPC) for training students before exam. Students can take help of this service free of cost.
8)   JEE Main will be conducted in two shifts- First Shift (9.30 am to 12.30 pm) and Second Shift (2.30 pm to 5.30 pm).
